Rv. Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Wyns-Dogbe

Keynote Address

Elizabeth Wyns-Dogbe is the Managing Director of SIC Life Company Limited which is a leading and the only state-owned life insurer in Ghana. She has 17 years’ experience in insurance and risk management. She spearheaded the design and implementation of one of Ghana’s first mobile micro-insurance products which could be bought, managed and claimed all through the mobile money wallet. She was also key in the development of insurance solutions for fisher folks along the coast of Ghana with the aim of expanding financial inclusion to the underserved. Elizabeth is a Chartered Insurer from CII, UK. She is a fellow of the Boardroom Institute and a Senior Fellow of the African Good Governance Initiative. She is a current member of the Academic Board of West Africa Insurance Institute (WAII), a Board Director of SIC Life Savings & Loans, and a member of the Governing Board of Swedru Senior High School. She is also the Vice-President of the Association of Insurers and Reinsurers of Developing Countries (AIRDC).

 

Jeff Mutsekwa

Opening Remarks Blockchain and Africa’s Economy Micro payments /Financial inclusion

Jeff Mutsekwa is an entrepreneur with special interest in the financial services industry. He is currently the President of the Block Chain Association of Zimbabwe, having worked for some of the biggest financial services providers in the world including  England and USA. A trailblazer in the block chain technology in Africa, Jeff is a financial technology enthusiast and believes that Africa is poised to lead the world in providing digital solutions to it’s diverse economies.

 

Jonathan Fennell

Bringing blockchain use to the insurance and pensions industry

Jonathan Fennell is the Founding Partner of AfricaBlockchainAdvisory.com which offers a range of advisory services in the space to countries across the continent. He is also Founder of Genesis Block Africa. A Pan-African, emerging technology solutions aggregator, with presence in 26 African countries to date. GBA holds the Africa license for a variety of products such as Mastercard and Amazon backed payment over sound technology, ToneTag (ToneTag.com). Jonathan works with an array of both public and private sector clients in Africa. He provides education, technology and advisory services. His core passion however, lies in blockchain, more specifically, governance models. Recently he has launched AfricaBlockchainMedia.com, a Pan-African blockchain, cryptocurrency and digital asset media company which aims at establishing itself as the largest blockchain focused media organization across Africa.

 

Garth Bell

Strategic leadership in blockchain

Garth has over 25 years’ experience and an impeccable track record of directing successful, highly complex, multidisciplinary Value Creation and Exponential Growth Transformation projects and initiatives that deliver tangible results. His breadth of experience includes Strategy, Leadership, Human Capital, Customer Management and Organisation Design & Change capabilities that improve business performance and enhances value and growth. Garth has vast experience in the financial services sector and has led strategy development and change management project teams for organisations including Consulting firms and financial services companies in Africa & Middle East, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

 

John Gould

Blockchain in the energy sector

John was a Partner at Ernst & Young between 1981 – 1989, Initially an audit partner with 4 years as partner in charge of Management Consultancy Services. His Corporate achievements include been Managing Director of UTC and CEO of Econet Capital which was responsible for the non-core businesses of Econet Group which has morphed into Cassava. Significant developments in this role was the creation of Steward Bank and the alternative energy division. John is the Chairman of Mutare Bottling Company, Batoka Hospitality Group, Batoka Safaris, Imvelo Safari Lodges, Southern African Gas and Redan Gas and Expofield Investments. He also sits a Director on the Steward Bank board.

 

David Gibbons

Bringing blockchain investments in emerging markets

David has been the Director-Product and Distribution at Invictus Capital South Africa. Invictus Capital manages crypto index and venture funds and, they develop token raise-tech. He has also been E commerce Executive at Edcon from November 2011 to November 2014. David has served as the General Manager from Sep 2010 to November 2011 at Property24. David has also served as the Director, Community Relations from Feb 2006-May 2010 and he became the Director, Business Development from Feb 2010 to Sep 2010 at Zillow.com. He holds a BSc. In Mechanical Engineering from the University of Johannesburg.

 

Desmond Jombe

Blockchain 101 and Smart Contracts

Desmond is an entrepreneur with an avid enthusiasm for blockchain technology and cryptocurrency investing. He is driven to see the development of blockchain technology in Africa and currently serves as Ambassador for Pan-African cryptocurrency exchange KuBitx. He is a young professional with a B.B.A in Management Information Systems from Midwestern State University in Texas and has experience as a Data Analyst for IoT telematics company CalAmp in their SaaS department.

 

Noma Nkomani

Noma is a Director at Muapazano Advisory Services since 2017. Mupazano is a sustainability and technology focused advisory company that seeks to partner with individuals, corporate and the public sector to achieve their potential. Noma leads the Corporate Finance, Public Sector Operations Enhancement, PPP and Transaction Advisory and Sustainability service offerings for Mupazano. She is a Deloitte trained Chartered Accountant with over 13 years of audit, corporate finance, management consulting services experience. She has conducted a study on the fintech ecosystem in Zimbabwe and offers advisory services to tech companies. Her qualifications include a BSc. in European Business and Management, MBA in International Business.
